BOTOX

Skin loses some of its elasticity as we age; therefore, the skin around areas where we have repetitive muscle contractions does not bounce back as it used to do. There are many factors that can cause facial lines such as reduction of collagen due to aging, to damage from sun free radicals and the environment. The good news is that you can really turn back the clock for decades with treatments you can trust.

Botox, Dysport, and, Xeomin are exciting anti-aging therapeutic agents, approved by FDA. When injected into the muscle, they cause the underlying muscles to stop moving temporarily, therefore wrinkles stop forming, and lines begin diminishing.

These agents literally treat wrinkles that shape from years of repetitive facial contractions including:

Frown lines
Forehead furrows
Smoker’s lines
Crow’s feet
Smile lines

In addition, Botox has a number of other important applications in addition to wrinkle minimization such as:

Chronic migraines
Profuse sweating
 Lazy eye
 Crossed eyes
Muscle spasms
Bladder Control
Bowel disorders
 Torticollis
Cervical dystonia

It’s a few minutes treatment with minimal downtime, and you can return home and resume normal activities. You may notice results within a few hours to a few days, with results lasting for a few months for moderate to severe frown lines.

Does Botox Prevent Wrinkles?

Absolutely! Botox, and in fact the competitors like Dysport, and Xeomin are highly purified toxins that slow muscles that contract hundreds of times a day; because most wrinkles are formed by repetitive movement of muscles, high quality Botox injections limit these expressions to potentially prevent wrinkles.

What's the Ideal Age to Start Using Botox?

It is really up to you! You can use it to hide wrinkles or you can use it to prevent wrinkle from forming. It also depends on your anatomy, genetic and environmental factors. There are people in their 40s with few or no wrinkles who require little Botox, and there are people in their 20s who require more. Good news is there is no issue with long term use.

Does Botox Have Side Effects?

Every drug has side effects, and Botox is not excluded. Fortunately, Botox side effects are rare and temporary. Potential side effects (1 to 5% of cases) include mild droopiness of the eyelid or eyebrow, which usually goes away within two weeks. Because Botox is injected at the site of the condition, redness, bruising, infection and pain may occur. When Botox is given to prevent migraines, headache, neck pain or drooping eyelid may occur.

What Can I Expect the Day After My Botox Appointment?

Generally not too much, but everyone is different. Results will usually begin to show shortly after injection to five days after the treatment, and there is no downtime, as well as little or no discomfort. After those first few days, results will continue to progress gradually over the course of two weeks. If you plan for a big event, it is best to get your Botox two weeks before your event. Patients taking medications that contain aspirin or NSAIDs may develop bruising. They may wear makeup immediately but should avoid heavy workouts for 24 hours.
